FAQ's

The majority of tuition websites are unregulated – this means that anyone who pays a fee can advertise on their website – with no background checks whatsoever! We actively encourage everyone to get a DBS check and share their qualifications (e.g. Degrees, QTS certificates) with us. When they provide us with their DBS Update number and we verify it, they get a Regulated stamp on their profile and are placed onto the Regulated part of our directory. Until they provide us with this information, they will not get access to this part of the site. You can search the entire database, however if you want additional security, tick the Regulated check box and only those who have provided proof of their DBS will appear in your search column. Read T&Cs for more information.

Not quite. While teachers make up a large part of our directory, we decided to open it out to other subject specialists who wish to share their passion via tuition. These subject specialists may not have a University Degree or QTS certification but they have a skill or hobby to share with you. They may speak fluent Japanese, be a chess master, or a pro at playing the guitar or piano. Many of these things do not require a degree, but they have taken time to become experts in their field. We took the approach that not everything can be pigeon-holed into a degree, so we wanted to provide these subject specialists with a chance to showcase their skills to you. If you are looking for teachers only (to work with your child for instance) – look out for a teacher stamp on their page. They only get this stamp if they have shared with us their official teaching qualifications. Quick Tip - Always ask to see their qualifications in person before starting.

On the main page, start by using the search button and input what you are looking for. In your results page you can filter your results in many ways, including price, experience, type of tuition (e.g. face to face, online or small group tuition) and distance from you, all which will help you discover your ideal teacher. Make a shortlist, speak to them, start when you are ready. Search, (Shortlist,) Speak, Start. See our ‘How It Works’ tab at the top of the page for more detailed information.

There isn’t one. For parents AT2T is completely free. We ask tutors to pay a small fee to advertise on our website.

So, by this point you have searched, contacted and settled on using your tutor. AT2T take a step back after this point; it is simply up to you and your tutor to decide how to move forwards (see our ‘What questions should I ask my new tutor?’ below).

Most of these will naturally come up when you email, phone or meet in person with your tutor. But here’s a few key questions to get you started. How? Will sessions take place online, at a designated place, or at the client or tutor’s home? Payment? Clarify how and when they wish you to pay and what happens with last minute or longer notice cancellations. Timings? How often are you going to meet (weekly, fortnightly) and how long is each session? Is the tuition during term-time only or year round? When can you start/what is your availability? Background? You should get a good idea about our tutors from their Snapshot page. But feel free to ask any questions that are important to you (i.e. do you have much experience working with SEND children? What is your 11+ pass rate?, etc). We also strongly encourage you to ask to see their documentation in person as the ownness is on you as the client to perform your own checks. (We do not accept any liability for these checks – see T&Cs for more information.) Hopefully these get you started.

We do not muddy the water with complicated paying systems or dictate what our tutors should do. During your chat with your tutor, they should outline how they want to be paid (cash, bank transfer are the most common), when they want to be paid (e.g. before each session, after each session, at the start or end of the month) and any other policies such as what happens if you cancel last minute. Here at AT2T, we aim to link parents to tutors and then back away leaving you to sort the particulars out for yourselves. We are always contactable though and aim to support you at the start or during this process.

Yes, of course. We ask our teachers to be understanding when our clients request to end sessions. Equally, we appreciate that our tutors cannot fill empty slots at the drop of a hat. We therefore believe in a middle ground where we ask our clients to give a weeks’ notice to stop the sessions to allow a small window of time for our tutors to cover the slot. Any sessions in the meantime will be chargeable and we encourage our clients to attend any sessions in this final week. Teachers can have the final say though, as this is what we encourage as best practice. Always contact your tutor first though, we asked them to be understanding, especially when extenuating circumstances are involved. The above information is for clients who have been with their tutor for over a month. Within the first month, we ask our tutors to grant a cooling off period where you can cancel with no charge.

This should have been discussed prior to you starting the sessions with your tutor. It is at the tutor’s discretion what happens here. If you wish to permanently cancel, see the above question.

After completing your search criteria to whittle down the tutors, drop them an email to find out more information. Feel free to arrange a phone call or meeting in person to discuss this in more detail. Hopefully after this you will have a good understanding of whether this is the person for you/your child. Next step is to give it a try. If it doesn’t work, it is fine to cancel and start the process again.

On the teacher pages, you can see how much they charge for the first session. We recommend the first session to be half price (of what you have agreed moving forward). Some offer it for free! We understand that sometimes things just aren’t right. For that reason, we have asked all of our tutors to allow free cancellation within the first month (date commencing from the 1st session).

It is your responsibility to perform your own checks. We encourage all parents/clients to see for themselves the documentation and check yourself that they are genuine and linked to the tutor you have chosen. A Teacher 2 Tutor does not accept any liability for this or the services given. To be on the regulated part of the site, it means we should have checked a DBS from them using the update service, but rarely, administration mistakes can occur which is why it is your responsibility to perform all checks. See T&Cs for more information.

As a new business we are trying hard to locate teachers who are looking to tutor. Please check back another time or recommend us on socials or to your child’s teacher. Spread the word, we are here to take the stress out of finding a tutor, but unfortunately these things take time.

Please contact us. Feedback is crucial to refining what we offer. <br> Another note. Keep your eyes peeled as we are starting up a Reviews page for each tutor in the not-to -distant future. Let others know how brilliant they are!

As a start-up company, we are at the mercy of parents to leave us positive reviews and to spread the word. If you can help, it would be hugely appreciated.
